James replies: I like your reasoning on the sizing (10 Gallons and Under, 11-40 Gallons, Over 40 Gallons), and agree that things may have to be adjusted once we get the actual entries. I'm just wondering about the estimating of costs up-front. With 3 separate size classes in 4 divisions, plus best of show and people's choice we would have 14 "merchandise" prizes to get and store and ship plus 38 rosettes/ribbons to buy and ship. If we add another size class it would be 17 prizes and 47 rosettes/ribbons. I doubt that I can just pull cost numbers out of the air and satisfy all of the MC - it has to be based on something. Primarily, I'm worried about "surprizing" the AGA MC after the fact with a more expensive event than initially proposed. I am leery of just how "flexible" they will be if we ask for an event based on 12 categories and later decide to move to 15. But the big thing is the "prizes" - I have suggested that we do away with that idea altogether for this year and it has been soundly voted down - but I just _know_ that this is going to generate heat during the consideration phase. Increasing the potential number of prizes is only begging the issue.
