Our local club has scaled back our membership to non-voting because we do not directly derive much from FAAS. Things I beleive they do provide: * HAP (not very popular, run by Dean Sliger :) * Article contests (can be good for author exposure, but they did lose half of last year's entries) * Redistribution point for other aquarium societies about relevant issues in legislation (Karen's recent post about MA and NH? restrictions would be an excellent candidate for this). The last point is probably the most useful one. Stuff that comes in to FAAS gets broadcasted to a multitude of aquarium societies via their bulletin. At least it used to. Hope this helps.
