PAM

Hi Everybody,

Quite a lot on the postings overnight. I'll try to comment on it all in
one posting rather than answer each separately.

I totally agree with the comments that we should have concensus,
especially on something as vital to the continuation of AGA as this.

Regarding TAG doing some of the things that PAM is intending, the
comments on volunteers not being available is right on the mark. As
evidence, I cite the number of unfilled positions on the existing AGA
chart.

One thought not directly pertinent to this discussion is that with the
addition of a newsletter, either with TAG or with PAM, our costs will
rise and we may have to consider a dues increase to handle it.

Regarding who sees the discussion and who votes on what, my feelings are
that the MC should be aware of everything we are doing so they can
provide more inputs than just the 5 SC members. Our chances of making a
more informed decision increase that way. Regarding who should vote, my
feeling is that on items critical to the existence of the AGA it should
just be the SC, but for all else it should be the MC. Otherwise why have
an SC? Unless someone has strong disagreements on this can we proceed
this way until we get to the position descriptions? One item for that
future discussion is who determines what is critical and what is not, the
chair, the SC?

Dave G, because you thought the discussion was terminated, you gave only
a brief answer to my questions. Could you go back and address them in
detail please. One of the things that has raised a question is how many
hours you expect it to take for each issue. Another is the thought that
we might want a more specific idea of who will replace Herlong if that
becomes necessary. There are reservations about his performance for the
ACA.

For my final comment, I've picked up 4 ideas from Erik's postings that
we have previously discussed that can be added to the list of things we
want to look at for the future. Please don't forget to add your inputs.

                                        cu, Bob
