Update

Hi Everybody,

I am pleased to announce that David Lass has been appointed to the
Steering Committee. This is in keeping with the tradition of the
Financial Secretary always being on the SC as well as an indicator of the
good job he has been doing. As Karen reminded me, now that we are not
dealing with another Dave ( Gomberg ) we can call him Dave again instead
of Lass.

Mary, please add him to the SC list on the inside front cover when you
have the chance. Erik, please update the website with this addition when
you can get to it.

I had a letter from Gomberg which I am reproducing below.

                                QUOTE

As you review the AGA's mission, goals, etc. I suggest you start with the
bookstore. The reasons for this are that it is relatively simple
(compared to TAG), it needs a new storekeeper (my commitment to PAM and
to
raising a subscriber list precludes my continuing), and it is pretty
outdated (it dates from a time when Dennerle was readily available,
before
the Tropica catalog had a US distributor and regular US availability,
from
when the FAN poster was hard to get, etc. It may even have outlived its
usefulness. You should know that I received the posters with some edge
damage, and I have done my best to improve their condition thru careful
storage. They are slightly better than when I got them. We are out of
Dennerle, we have a couple of dozen Oriental catalogs and Tropica
catalogs,
and nearly a hundred FAN posters (I would guess). Please feel free to
share this and advise of your plans.

                                END QUOTE

First, I want to thank Dave G for his years of effort on behalf of the
AGA. He has consistently done a good job for us.

What do you think we should be doing here? Personally, I'd like to unite
all our sales in one place and this could be just the excuse we need to
do it. Currently, our members have to write to several individuals, make
out separate checks, etc. to order stuff from Dave, back issues from
Diana, pins and t-shirts from Karen and Dorothy, etc. The only thing I
would consider exempting from this is plant sales because they are
perishable and have extra needs. I am copying Diana on this issue because
I want her input on it and because I don't want any unpleasant surprises
for her if we decide to implement the idea. Perhaps we should put all
sales in abeyance until we have our incorporated status?

Erik has indicated he will be out of touch for the next week and a half.

Thats all for now, Bob C
