I know you made the decision, at least for the present, to keep the
membership as an Excel file, rather than to port it over to a database,
such as Filemaker. This, however, leaves me with the questionnaire
developed by Olga Betts. If we were to use this questionnaire, it would
seem logical to store the data we get in Filemaker. So, I am thinking,
why
not have all the membership data in Filemaker? I got the sample you
sent
(about 1/10 the total) into Filemaker fairly easily, and, with spring
break
coming up next week, I could get all the rest done.

happy
to make the switch. My employer has bought me a laptop, which removes
most of my previous
objections. I have been scouring the markdown bins of our local
stores, but have been unable to find a discounted copy of FileMaker.
I do think that it is a good idea, and I appreciate your looking into
the
conversion. Anyone want to make a motion?

membership roster in TAG, that listed only name, affiliation (if any),
and city/state or province/country. I think
that this method avoids most of the privacy objections, yet allows
members the potential
to contact each other.
