I am not againsts the auction.... I am just against anything complicated
that would prevent us from going forward with the basic idea of the meeting.
I was suggesting that we not have a standard auction (which are great money
makers) cause it seems to involves a lot of planning and many helpers and
can keep people busy all day. Locals are needed who don't have to spend an
extra night in hotel.  If the volunteers and coordinator are available, I
say GO FOR IT!! 

Maybe this 'option' - among many - can be considered by Mary who has
graciously accepted my suggestion that she spearhead this 'general' activity.

I like the idea of open bar and simple horsdoerves for Friday night....
something like an opening mixer to allow people to get aquainted. Something
that will allow interaction of people that have never met would be nice
too... maybe just the name tags with City/State would be enough.
