Hi, everyone,
The process took a little longer than I expected,
but we have a new publisher! I interviewed 5 different printers.
There is no question in my mind that I made the right choice. Our new
publisher is The Print Centre in Needham, MA which is ten minutes from my
house. Our contact person is Joel Skolnick
who is the owner. Printing publications like TAG is exactly what they like to do,
and Joel was eager to get the job. Based on my experience in
dealing with him, I am sure he will be easy to work with and will do a good
job. He says it is important to him to get the job done
right.
I had all the people I talked to give me an
estimate for V13n1. He and one other printer gave me the lowest
estimates. The other estimates were $200 or more higher. His service
was so much better than the other low bid and the higher bidders as well that
the choice was obvious.
This afternoon I called Joel to give him the job
and also to discuss the best and most cost effective way to publicize the
contest. We decided on a two-sided, stapled flyer (a booklet form would
have made it much more expensive). This flyer will be inserted into the
next issue of TAG. Since I didn't know how long the flyer will be, I
asked him to give me a figure for a 10 page one. This would cost $275 for
650 copies which is about what I expect the count to be for the next
issue.
