I was going to send this yesterday, but ended up postponing it: I just got my statistics program working again for the websites, including the AGA site. I started logging everything a little after I moved the pages from Caltech -- roughly around January of 1999. During that time, the hits on the AGA site had been steadily declining, reaching a low of about 200 visitors per day last August. I don't remember if it was that time when TAG started coming out again, but you will all be delighted to hear that traffic since then has been steadily INCREASING, and that we now average over 300 visitors per day and still climbing... so roughly an increase of 50%. Perhaps our membership will also begin following this trend now that we're "back". Looking at the most popular pages on the site, for last month, April, the most requested document is the home page, which got hit 10,000 times. Then Neil and Liisa's SAE article, which got 1100 hits. Then tag.html, about 900 hits; and the Plant List, 700ish hits. Beyond that, there's a few pages that get 300-500 hits. This tells me that people are reading the featured articles and that we're probably on the right track in making more of them available. Interestingly, there has NOT been a spike on the main site because of the showcase; even when I look at the individual announcement days such as March 17th, I can see a little more, but not a LOT more, traffic. - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail majordomo@thekrib.com with "unsubscribe aga-mcm" in the body of the message.
