I don't understand. If we nominate a new person for a new 2 year term
starting January, wouldn't that make it 3 & 3?

I thought Bob said something in his initial message that the Chair and
President are the same thing. Maybe we should have a
Vice-Chair/Vice-President?

A VERY interesting Can of Worms (see article 4, section 6). A certain
other big society dealing with tropical fish and having similar initials
to ours pays one of its officers (or is it directors?) to publish its
bi-monthly magazine. This, technically, is illegal, so they are funneling
the money through said person's publishing company which in turn "pays"
him. This is also illegal, but apparently makes them feel better. One of
the people sitting next to me at their board meeting was in law and said
it doesn't matter how you funnel the money, people on the board cannot be
paid for work they do for the society.

Another example: It's OK for me to receive the $20 per month reimbursement
for the AGA's internet connection, because I pay $80 per month to US West
for the connectivity. It would probably even be legal for me to be
reimbursed the entire $80, though that would feel morally wrong to me.
It would be illegal for me to take one cent more than this. But it would
be legal to hire Jon Benn to do it because he's not on the board.
