Hi, everyone, I wanted to let you know all know that the next TAG will be sent out next Tuesday first class with contest and conference information. No. 3 for the year will be out in September, so if anyone has anything for me, the sooner the better. I have set the deadline for No. 4 as November 17th which is the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. I can allow few days grace, say to the following Monday. But anything that is submitted later than Monday, Nov. 26th will have to wait until the first issue of 2002. You may recall that last year there were various problems with Vol. 13 No. 4, and I had to spend a lot of time working on TAG in the month of December when I would much rather have been spending time with my children. As for the contest results and pictures, a decision needs to be made concerning how many and which particular pictures to print. The publisher prefers all pictures to be in either a Gif or Tif file. When I have scanned pictures for the cover, I have saved them in a Tif file. All the color pictures we submit to the publisher need to be at least 200 - 300 dpi, and they prefer 500 - 600. Black and white pictures should be 500 - 600 dpi. Personally, I was disappointed about the size of last year's contest photos, but given the quality of the pictures we had to work with, it was the best we could do. It seems to me that we have the following choices: (1) print all the pictures regardless of the quality like we did last time; (2) publish only higher resolution photos that will print well; (3) not publish any pictures at all and let them be viewed only on the web site. I am not personally invested in any of the above and will gladly do whatever the SC decides. The time to start thinking about all this is now because November will be here before we know it. Mary
