Hi everyone, Most of you are already aware of some of the events that have been taking place, but a few of you have been out of the loop, and I apologize for this. I would like to have the Management Committee more "clued-in" on what is going on in the AGA, so this is the first step in that direction. We have been having a string of technical and personality problems with Mary McCaw, the editor of TAG, over the past two years, culminating in TAG being at this point six months late, and with nobody on the steering committee willing to work with her. After no appearance at the convention, and no response to e-mails starting a month ago offering her a "graceful" exit, and two phone messages left last weekend and Sunday evening, she is now an ex-editor. She has also been unsubscribed from this list, and the archive password has been changed. We've also been trying to plan replacements for over three months now. I spent a great deal of time negotiating with Dave Gomberg for the AGA to carry PAM, but this instead prompted Dave to re-evaluate PAM's profitability and come to the ultimate conclusion to cancel his magazine altogether. In the aftermath of this, and with new information from the convention, David Lass is now working on a proposal for the future of TAG that looks to be quite exciting. Hopefully we can come to a speedy decision and get TAG caught up & improved fairly quickly, what with all the great new things to report from the convention and aquascaping contest. By the way, David also recently completed the incorporation process, so we are now officially a non-profit corporation! It is my hope that this list will once again be a vehicle for open exchange of information. Thanks for listening. - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com
