I found this message very interesting. Names have been omitted. I think I will ask if appropriate to post on the APD. -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Tue, 13 Aug 2002 16:46:32 -0400 From: <hidden> To: "'erik@thekrib.com'" <erik@thekrib.com> Subject: HAP Ethical dilemna Supose we have a newbie plant person who has risen to the top of the GAP ranks quickly with propogations and flowerings. They have a CO2 injection system and high intensity lighting. Basically, no challenge. The rest of our participants (20 or so) are in the "Walstad Camp" and learn more about science and work at every plant to make it grow. SOme are old timers with a wealth of knowledge. I would not feel comfortable calling the newbie a "Master Grower" when they don't know much except the technology and have an unfair advantage. Is it akin to the breeder who uses hormone in the tanks and gets BAP points? I proposed half-points for CO2 injected plants, but I also do not want to discourage members for participating in the GAP. Any thoughts?
