I remember from TN that AMANO, had very specific plant requests, and it
was FOR A LOT OF PLANTS. It was a number WAY in excess of anything I had
ever heard of. He discarded whole bunches off the bat, and then had his
assistants sort a lot of the others.
Very intersting to see how it works. I don't think a local supply would
be enough but then I don't know GWAPA either so it could be.
I would ask for very specific request.
Amano at TN did use only plants locally available to everyone, the reason
why was he wanted to use what the local hobbyists had to use. I think FAN
donated the plants and would again this year if asked. If someone needs a
contact I could come up with a name that we use for TAG advertisements.
I would expect AMANO to be very picky and toss out or request a lot more
than what is provided.
I heard that just finding the right wood, rocks at TN was also a long
process. All the gravel had to be washed/rewashed. Again I think this
was donated by ?Seachem.
I think that in and of it self is very interesting.
Speaking of which, what days is AMANO coming in?? Anyone know, does
Tomoko have her schedule in sync with that?
Who is in charge of Hospitality for Amano/Jan especially. We want these
guys well taken care of and spoiled. Of course speaker gifts, etc. But
more than that, someone to show them around the days they are early and
cater to their every whim. Charlene did that the first two years, Karen
did for Houston/Dallas. Usually it is one person, with others taggin on
as able. But one person that the speaker knows to check with and is there
by there side (so not someone that is in charge of bunches of other
stuff)
Karen may have pointers/additions or clarifications here...

I am certainly NOT going to be the one to tell the Master how to aquascape
his tank, but I personally am VERY interested to see him aquascape a tank
using plants that are available to ME.
I agree that he should be contacted to see what he wants, but also to see
whether he would be amenable to this approach.

Plants for Amanos demo shouldn't be a problem. Besides what
we'll be able to use from the donations, GWAPA members will
provide a collection of healthy, aquarium grown, picked fresh
that morning, plants for Amano to work with.
