Re: [AGA-mcm] Houston...we have a problem.

Actually, I was saying "YES" but suggesting filters for what he might wish to present. YES, he could spend 25 minutes talking about how he arranges rocks, and have it drift off into a freeform discussion. NO, he probably shouldn't do a formal powerpoint presentation. That sort of thing..

NOt to put workds in Erik's mouth but I thought it meant
no. Spending 25 minutes on slides doesn't leave much time

presentation is his stronger suit.

I'd consider having him back as a speaker next year and
just focusing on the Focus group this year.

This sounds cool, but I would impress on Oliver that
these are workshops,
not formal presentations, so it's actually OK to spend a
few minutes talking
about how one "just arranges" the rocks in a particular
matter, because much
of the workshop is focused on dialog (right?). Also,
it's only 45 minutes
each session.

I think we'll have enough projectors, between the one
GWAPA has, Karen's,
and Ray Lucas ($10/day?).

Hy Sean,

that ?s bad news I hope that Wilma Duncan and Dorothy
Rimes are be in good
health soon. Best wishes from me.

I don?t know if I?am the right men for a ?Iwagumi?
workshop. Because my
stoneworks I only make by my instinct, not by special
rules. This is not
easy to describe it to the participants.

But maybe...no I?am sure we find a theme who I can help
you. Do you wish
more a practical workshop, or is also a lecture possible
?

I can give a lecture, for example, about my Training
Day?s in Japan by the
ADA company from Mr.Amano this year. But for this I need
a possibility to
make a Powerpoint-Presentation to show some pictures
from CD....I think
this is will be very interesting for someone who want
take a look behind
the scenes from Takashi Amano.

If you want a practical workshop, I can try to set up a
example tank...with
stone?s or something. And can talk about my maintenance
experience to take
care a planted aquarium.

Please let me know your wishes.

Best regards,

Oliver

Luis's talk focused more on the plantless foreground,
not so much on
Iwagumi. Iwagumi itself has a set of 'rules' that are
followed.
In anycase, I think Sean has asked Oliver already. If
that doesn't work out
we'll look at the other options.

Good suggestions. AHS could be worth doing again. I

A Focus Group focusing on aquascaping would be good, in
keeping with the theme of the convention. But wasn't
iwagumi part of Luis's presentation last year -- sort
of
tieing in with Roger's Rocks talk?

What about David Lass doing something about melding the
tank aquascape into the surroundings or vice versa?
I've
only seen pics and I'm not sure how to describe it.

Hi Rick, it is with great sadness that I must
inform
you that I cannot
make the AGA workshop. I became ill last week and
ended
up in the
hospital. The doctors believe I may have had a
serious
heart attack. I
am home now but will not be able to do anything
for a

they find out why this happened. Thank you and
the
AGA for asking me
to participate in such a great organization.

Looks like we'll need to make alternate
arrangments.
I tried to get Frank Greco to lead the shrimp
workshop
but he says he
wouldn't be able to attend. Sean is trying to get
in
touch with
Oliver Knott to see if he'd be willing to lead a
workshop on 'Iwagumi'.

From 4, down to 3, and possibly down to 2. On the
bright side - everyone
would be able to attend both workshops.

Kidding aside, we're working on it but any
suggestions
would be appreciated.
