I did not expect any plugs or a free table, but I did expect that some effort
would be made to be fair to anyone (not just me) who has given a ton to the
hobby and received not a lot of support. Maybe I am just being whinny.
"not a lot of support"... Hmm, that one unfortunately presses a lot of
buttons. Maybe it's me remembering all the HOURS of negotiation and
attempts to plan to have PAM part of the AGA back in 1999 when you were
starting it, only to have the deal fall apart because you didn't think you
could make enough money on it. Or remembering all the hours negotiating
with you after PAM went bust in 2001.
Didn't the AGA basically bail out both you and all the PAM subscribers at
LIST PRICE (i.e., no special deal), and did they not buy out your entire
remaining stock at something like $2 per issue, something which, it turned
out, nearly bankrupted the organization? We've got a huge stock of these
that are NEVER going to sell -- we're having to give them away as
convention favors now.
Did the AGA not basically give you an effective exclusive on the
Kasselmann book at the 2002 convention, even promoting to the lists that
you were selling them, only to have you decide to ship them back home
after the first night, leaving several angry people?
I consider you a friend and a great supporter of the hobby in the past,
but to claim you haven't received a lot of support from the AGA IS, as you
say, just being whiny.
