[AGA-mcm] AGA convention and field-trip.

Dear Field trip committee,

I would like to make 2 reservations for the field trips and 1 for the convention (workshops only)? What is the process? Do I need to book them online or I can make the payment at the site?

I'm renting a car and will drive directly to Baltimore. Can I have the itinery  and name and telephone number of contact person. My cell is 503 709 6043.

Yours,

Arthit Prasartkul.

Hi Arthrit,

That's fantastic! Have you reserved a spot for the Friday trip?  If not, you should probably do it now.  There are still a few spots, but I wouldn't want you to miss out if they fill.  I'll cc the committee so that they are aware that you are coming.

I assume you have made hotel reservations?

I'm looking forward to meeting you this weekend!

Karen

Dear Karen,

Thank you very much for your mail and for the info you've been finding out for me.

I will be able to join the convention this weekend. I'll be leaving on Thursday night. I'm think of going to National Aquarium in Baltimore; heard that it's the best in the country. Jan's talk on Cryptocoryne in on Saturday and I'd like to join. The auction is also interesting. I'll then register at the gate.

Hope to see you.

Arthit

Dear Arthit,

Nice to hear from you!  We'd love to have you join us if you can work it out.  Here is what one of the organizers wrote:

"We've got some capacity of adding 'last minute' folks to the banquet. So,
although I cannot promise him a spot there (first come first serve), there
is a chance he'd be able to attend the banquet.

As far as registration, yes he should be able to walk in and
register on Saturday morning. Registration will close at 10 AM
on Saturday, so he should try and make it there earlier."

Even if you can't make it to the AGA convention, keep the NEC convention (Hartford, CT) in March in mind.  It is a general aquarium convention, not just for plants, but Christel Kasselmann will be speaking, so there will be a lot of us "plant folk" in attendance!

Dear Karen,

I'm Arthit Prasartkul. Hope you can still remember me. I wrote a Cyrpts from Thailand article for your journal a while ago.

Guess what? I'm now in New York, doing my Master's Degree in Environmental Policy at Columbia University. I have just heard about AGA convention and glad that this year theme is also involved Cryptocoryne.

I'm thinking of attending some of the talks but still not so sure if I can make it to D.C. on that weekend. Maybe you know this, would I be able to register right at the talk?

I know Jan Bastmeijer well but haven't yet met in person.  Also, it would be good to meet you and other hobbyists. It's bad that it's getting very cold. I'm so keen to go on a field trip collecting and seeing AMercican aquatic plants. I just want to get relaxed from hard work at school!

All the best from now.

Arthit
