Hi Cheryl, nice to hear from you.
My name is Cheryl I and take care of the links for AGA. I am also the AGA Membership Chair. One of These Days, I am going to create a list of plant forums, but I've been very busy lately and it will have to be later this year. I have visited aquatic quotient and enjoyed it.
Thanks! Its the hard work of several hobbyists here.
My company is also dealing with plants, equipmet trading as well as publication. We can look at some opportunity for trading. We can even help to distribute AGA material in the Asian region if you have the intention. What did you have it mind? I'm interested.
I am actually pondering over being the Asian partner of AGA in terms of publicity and publications. As most events are held in US, it is most inaccessible to Asians, not mentioning the magazines which is expensive on top of shipping. AGA is a "distant" icon compared to ADA which is nearer. 1. I am thinking if AGA is interested in getting my company to distribute the "Planted Aquaria" and "TAG" in the Asian regions. I would like to offer the regional hobbyists here at probably around the same price or higher, but in Singapore currency. This include the back issues. 2. We can also sell the Convention DVDs. 3. Membership subscription will be channeled to the main site. 4. In order to gain more awareness and particpationship in the AGA competitions, we can assist in the consolidation of entries and handling charges so that it is less expensive or even cheap, to the hobbyists around here. This could help generate more entries. 5. The Aquarama is held here once every two year, and the hall is just 5min drive from my house. :) AGA may be interested in cooperating with us for getting booth here and speaking in seminars. I am in contact with the marketing people, we could get free booths if we assist them in generating planted hobby awareness. Who knows, someone from US may even visit to give a talk and appear at a booth. This will definitely attract many serious forumers from around the region. You could also get many more members via this channel. 6. The convention and field trips in US is interesting. But not many, if any, will fly to US for it. Who knows one day, AGA might be interested to hold a 2nd one each year, in Singapore. There are also many interesting places to explore in Singapore, nearby Malaysia for the field trips. As partners, we could provide logistic and administration support. I am sure names like karen, bastmeijer are just legends here, as of now. There are many areas in which we can talk about cooperating such that both of our organisation can gain through building the awareness and spreading the interest of this hobby. PS : The price of many rare plants could be lowered with the increased interactions from the East and West. Hope some of my insights interests you. We can always discuss, for near future or in the long run. Roland
