Well, therein lies the catch.  We don't HAVE a backlog of beginner articles. 
We have absolutely nothing, and I've printed every one I've received (other 
than the unuseable ones from a certain person across the sea) almost as soon 
as I've received them since I became editor.  And I have actively solicited 
this type of material.  Sometimes I've used a reprint that I thought was 
good, just so that we had SOMETHING to offer beginners.  So unless a 
specific person agreed to write it...
