I get the feeling (and I didn't say this to them) that in both DC and now SF, they are trying to make the VENUE a big part of the draw, rather than the convention itself. I don't know that this is necessarily a good direction to go in. IMO, people who want to visit SF (or DC) can do so any time they want to take a vacation. We ned to focus on putting on a convention that is so interesting that people will go to East Oshkosh to attend it if they can afford it. And if people NEVER want to leve the convention hotel because we have given them so much to do there, so much the better.
Also, if eople think they want to have something to do on Friday, just to make it last a little longer, it STILL doesn't need to be an off-site field trip. Any number of demos or work shops could take place at the hotel. (just as a for-instance of alternatives) We could even (wonder of wonders!<g>) even have TIME to schedule an open AGA business meeting.

Personally, I wouldn't pay 120 per night on top of the field trip, reg, banquet, and travel costs. That's just too much money, even if I had a job that could cover it. $100.00 per night is more reasonable and would be a lot more doable, mentally, to most folks. If it were up to me I'd stongly suggest a limit of 100/night.Interesting, since Jeff told me that it was you and Luis who were bucking for a down-town location as a lure for your wives.I did tell Jeff that if it were possible to do this affordably then it would be a big draw, but it's still a money issue. I guess our cost of living differences give us different ideas on what is reasonable/affordable.I'll email Tom again and see what I can't drum up with them, unless Scott wants to do it. You are the Con Liason, aren't you Scott? I don't want to step on your toes.Best, Phil _______________________________________________ AGA-mcm mailing list AGA-mcm@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/aga-mcm
