Re: [AGA-mcm] Convention 2005

I don't think we should overreact about the phone call to Karen. To my
mind, it was a bunch of guys riding around in a car and wondering whether they were on the right track. "Hey! I know! I have Karen's cell phone number! Let's call her!"

This could be as simple as Karen just giving them Scott's cell phone number.

They didn't call my cell phone, they were ON a cell phone in a car.<g> But the point is that I think they need to get input from more than one person.

Why do we need an extra list for Convention stuff? Not that I object, but I thought that's what the MC list was for. Among other things.

I think we need two different lists, particularly at this time, beccause we have (and will have) a number of conversations going on on the MC that are not convention related, that we may or may not want to discuss "in public", and that we certainly don't want to distract them with. Heaven forbid that we have Dave putting his two cents in on every book store and TAG conversation that comes up!<GGG> We may also need to "retreat" to the MC list to discuss and make decisions "in private". This asa problem with just adding the DC folks to the MC last year, and was what ended up with MANY conversations becoming multi-person e-mails, or else bouncing to the BOD list, where all the MC folks got left out of the loop. It took us a while (and some gavel-thumping by Erik ;-) to get back to using the lists appropriately afterwards.

They ARE on the right track. They ARE asking the right questions.

I agree, and I think we should support them. I think they _are_ showing the initiative we want to see, and I "like" the fact that they are looking to us for guidance. I really think this is mostly a communication issue.

Karen
