Ah, got it...

sorry, I guess I was not very clear, I meant package
together as Phil had suggested meaning to package the
Echino and the crypt book together, each with an
original and translation.

Yes, the original would have to be sold with the
transalation for ownership reasons stated.

I would think we would HAVE to sell as a package.
The problem is that in
these sorts of deals you really need to have proof
that the buyer owns a
copy of the original work. Otherwise, people would
just buy the $5
not-for-profit translation and the author would get
bilked out of book
royalties.

If we promise that we sell as a package, then we
have something to bring
to the bargaining table with the author (and
possibly their foreign
language publishing company). They will sell a few
more books. Everyone
wins.

Mike Wise requires anyone who wants one of his
apisto translations to send
a xerox of the front cover of the book to prove they
own it.

That might be cool, IMO there are more Crypt-heads
than Echino-groupies. Does anyone have this book?

I love the idea of doing more than one, whether we
package them together or not it gives our book
store
the impression of having twice as much cool stuff.

I have this book, German edition. I think I
bought
it
during AGA2k3. I am don't remember that there
was a
lot of interest in it other than me and one or
two
other bidders. I could be remembering it wrong
though
and of course the fact that it is written in
German
had a factor in the interest generated.

It is a nice book, hard cover about an 1-1/4"
thick
with gloss pages, but I am not sure how many
people
will be interested in having a black and white
translation to cross index with the text. There
are
certainly some of us me included. I am just not
sure
how many.

Here's a far-out-there idea. What if we did the
same for Neils Jacobsen's
Cryptocoryne book and offered them both as a
bundle
package? That might
help sweeten the pot. Did he write that in
Danish
or German?

Phil
