An eloquent reply.
The woodworking magazine to which I subscribe and many of
those to which I do not subscribe have regular features
wherein they compare a half dozen bandsaws, or smoothing
planes, panel-raising router bits, etc. Lots of mags for
other hobbies do similar things, but they have a
subscription base in the tens of thousands providing motive
for manufacturers to provide samples freely and revenues
for paying writers and testers for weeks of work.
When we get there, I'd like to do the equipment tests. ;-)
Without meaning to sound lugubrious, I figure I'll be
retired from public service by then and looking for
something with modest remuneration to pad my meager
pension. ;-)
