Re: [AGA-mcm] stats on tropica book

If I had to vote right now, I'd say "leave them." I'd say
it with some pain.

Lots of questions come to mind thinking about this. Is AGA
expanding or contracting operations? Has AGA plateaued or
still trying to get over the 800-1,000 hump? Is there
something AGA needs to do that it's not doing and that
doesn't require more staff hours?

ARe Tropica catalogue: Hmm, sales fell about the time that
Amazon started carrying the book or when the new edition
came out? Maybe both?

A new edition might sell better than what we have offered
since 2004 but folks can always get it on Amazon.

If AGA's purpose re books is to fill gaps in the
distribution of knowledge, then I think we can let this one
go and just point to other sources, noting that it is
available at Amazon and Fishbookstore. Btw, Barnes & Nobles
doesn't carry it, so it isn't available from just any
source -- but Amazon is pretty widely known and accessible.
I don't think we need to carry the catalogue that's
available elsewhere. We can always order some later if the
need arises.

I don't have a problem selling autographed copies, but I
suspect the market is even smaller and if we bought, say,
50 copies, we would need a few years to move them. So
before we did that, I'd want to know how many autographed
copies we could get and how many copies would be have to
buy from Tropica in a shipment?

Btw, has any sign shown up that the increased size in TAG
is promoting growth in membership?
