Re: [AGA-mcm] When it rains it pours!

Heads up? Sure.

Re removal-- it's the old, do-we-control-content question.

I'm inclined to say that we should remove material if a copyright holder affirms his rights. That's just my opinion; I haven't spoken to any attorneys about it. Also, I think that's what google, yahoo, and some other bigger sites do. And that's why there are so few pics on wikipaedia. Otoh, it seems you can put absolutely anything on utube without the site owners actively objecting -- but utube, hopefully, won't be our standard for anything.

The AGA Forum Rules say that anything you post is public domain unless the message states otherwise. They also say you won't post anything violating, among other things, copyright law. I don't think the link is violation, it's what's at the link that's the problem and that's not on our forum.

Truth is, so many people who wouldn't, say, shoplift a pack of gum from a store would be willing to pilfer intellectual property. Some of these don't understand the concept of intellectual property, perhaps because they aren't able to have or hold ideas generally. Even more folks don't show much respect for it simply because it's so easy get away with theft. The justifications offered are often hilariously illogical -- they usally amount, as in this case, I could do it so it must be okay.

Think we should give ADA and ADG a heads up?  It seems it's mostly their
photos.  Let them deal with him if they choose?

The second one is already handled on the forum.  He claims to not be using
any AGA photos, and this does appear to be true.  So we're out of the
picture.  He's not going to change his mind, but both Scott and I have
clearly posted that we think it's wrong.  About the only other thing we
could do is delete the link off the forum, if it's deemed appropriate.
