Well, it ain't broke so there's no necessity (my own source of frustration notwithstanding). At work, the software auditors are always ragging on us to upgrade whenever new versions come out for any of our networked systems. But if we have stable platforms that are producing the things we want, ugrading is just a new nightmare of debugging and and I often try to pass on it.
 
Then again, most of the software on my own pc at work, is stuff I bought myself because the agency is usually a year or two behind what I want to make use of for myself. But for the big iron stuff, I don't like to rush.

Yes, sometime in that huge surplus of free time, "we" should migrate to phpBB3.  Always hesitent, since it would involve re-merging all those nifty add-ons like the geezer gateway and the "find the plant" anti-spam.
