Re: [AGA-mcm] [Fwd: Aquarium mosses]

I think it could be a really good idea, if we could print at reasonable cost. Then we would have stuff to sell through the book store that was truly unique. If we did it, I think we should get the rights to publish the material on DVD after the hard copies have run out.Â

As far as twice the number of pages as TAG is concerned, though, I donât think it can be done in that binding formatâ I think weâve talked about this with printers before, and we donât have a HUGE amount of lee-way in terms of how many more pages we could add.

What do y'all think of this idea? Does the AGA want to get into the booklet-publishing business? It could be a good thing. I know that Karen, Ole and I have discussed a similar project about Algae, and at one time we were thinking of publishing Ben's article about The Basics, but I couldn't get hold of hi-res photos.

Pros? Cons? Thoughts?

If anyone wants to see the article, let me know and I'll e-mail you the rar file.

Dear Cheryl,

Please find attached an article I wrote for TAG, including some photos. Can you kindly let me know if you will consider publishing in TAG. I have copies of the same photos in larger sizes as well as others but I think the ones I have sent are probably already too many. I will send you the photos in their original size if you would like to publish.

Another project I have discussed with Loh Kwek leong is the possibility of writing a book(let) entitled Aquarium Mosses and Liverworts. We know that there are a number of hobbyists who would be interested in this and wondered if AGA would consider the project. We intend to coauthor with Prof Benito Tan as taxonomic adviser. We are still discussing the size of the book or booklet. I was thinking of perhaps a TAG sized publication with perhaps double the amount of usual pages to keep costs to a minimum. But if you are interested we can also think about a bigger publication that would be more comprehensive. Also I can incorporate the information in the attached article in this book(let) instead of publishing separately.

Below please find a proposed draft contents for said book

If interested please let us know your views.

Thanks

best regards
