No, I think I made up another account. A lot of
those aga-member accounts were banned if I recall correctly when I tried using
them :- )

promotion For the forums that you were posting to, did you use aga-member as the
username and aquaticplants as the password?
Thanks for your help. For anyone else who volunteered to help, I'll
be sending out an updated list of the forums that are still working tomorrow
evening. Please email me if you are still willing to help out. We
have less than a month to go before the deadline for the contest and I'd like to
make another push on the boards for the aquascapes!
Thanks Efren and all.

promotion Could you shoot me a list of the forums you're registered on? I'll add the ones I don't have to the list I currently am registered for. In the past, I've used the universal username: aga-member and password: aquaticplants Let me check through my list and see how many are using this standardized username/password. I'll try and get the list to everyone before the end of the week so we can divy up the forums for posting. Thanks! Bailin

I'd be happy to help out, I think I still have my
list of registered forums from the AGA Convention promo that I can see if
I've been banned or not ;- ) I can do those as well as look into a few
others to post on. It may take me a week or two to get to all of them
though.....
- It would help out volunteers if there is a prepared,
forum-formatted note we can copy and paste for the contest, as well as a
prepared note to send the forum admins.
- I was considering having a 'universal' username for the
forums with a similar password that can be used by multiple
volunteers over multiple years for AGA related stuff - eg 'AGArep' or
something like that...but then there are issues of accessing the e-mail used to
register if problems occur......

promotion Thanks for the comments. I ran into that problem with Aquaria Central as well and it took me FOREVER to get back on my account. I think the option of contacting the admins to notify them of our intent would be the best approach, especially in the case of Aquaria Central. Heck we could ask them to tag the notice so it doesn't disappear from the board over time. Would you be willing to help with some of the postings? I frequent APC, plantedtank, and plantgeek, but that's about it. Are there other forums that you are a member of and post freqently to? Bailin

Just wanted to throw something out for you guys to
chew on......
With the promotion of the contest starting, there's
a couple of issues from the Convention promo that need to be
considered. As one of the promo volunteers, I would run into issues
of forums deleting the post and banning me for 'spam'. It took me quite a
while to get an answer from the Aquaria Central people and to have my account
unbanned.
- it would be better if we have someone who is
active on the forum post announcements. The issue with this is finding
people who are registered on the dozens of forums we try to hit, and then hoping
they will agree to do it.
- another option is to send a pm to a forum's
administration to either ask permission to promote the contest on their site, or
ask them to post the promo itself. The issues here are getting ignored by
the staff....or language barriers with the oversees forums.
I think the latter would be easier and more
'professional'. We may not be able to get promotion on some forums,
but at least we found out before getting deleted and banned, and the
AGA doesn't get black-listed that way.
If we find difficulties posting on a forum, maybe
we can have that noted on the list for future promotions.....
Regards,
Efren
