I've forwarded your message to the AGA members' list, as that list gets more
traffic than the announcement list.  The idea behind the announcement list
was to limit it to business announcements so that they didn't get mixed in
with chatter... Even though it has been sparsely used so far!<g>

As far as your question is concerned, you are right that plants will easily
find their way down through to your ammendment level.  OTOH, it's really
hard to keep a "mound" of substrate from sifting down flat relatively
quickly.  It works better to construct your mound out of more stable
materials like rock or driftwood and plant in, on or around it to achieve
the shape tyou want.
