I have recently used fenbendazole (the trade name is Panacur) to kill off hydra in my tanks. A very small amount sprinkled on the surface is sufficient to kill hydra in a 20 gallon tank. I had several dozen week-old rainbowfish fry in the tank and they were not affected as far as I can tell. I ordered Panacur powder from one of the online equine vet supply companies. It isn't very expensive and a small amount goes a long way. If anyone is interested I will find the url of my source. As a bonus, (3rd picture), at the other end of the same tank, the corys are spawning this morning. I have my video camera setup and it is recording some great breeding activity. Not the clearest glass in this tank. It is about 25 years old. While this is a heavily planted tank that is doing well, I am sure Amano would barf to see it. But it is also a working tank, with some wonderful platies with fry, now corys spawning, and of course I seem to have mastered breeding hydra as well. http://www.djramsey.com/tropfish/hydra1.jpg http://www.djramsey.com/tropfish/hydra2.jpg http://www.djramsey.com/tropfish/coryspawning1.jpg David Ramsey djramsey@earthlink.net ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, please send mail to majordomo@thekrib.com with "Unsubscribe aga-member" in the body of the message.
