counter, metering valve all assembled for about $80 - $100.

If you want a solenoid, that's a pretty good deal.  I don't
use solenoids, it's a matter of choice.  Your plants and
fish won't care.  Put it on a timer with your lights and
you save on CO2 but spend on the solenoid.
