While the length does vary from model to model, the length
of lights nominally listed as 36" will be less than that.
They are designed to fit in 3' fixtures. The sme goes for
4' normal output oridianry fluorescent lamps. The length is
a bit shorter so that the outside measure of the sockets
fits a 4 foot fixture. 2' PCs are actual 22-23 inches, and
so on.
