Jay,

Most chemicals, dry or liquid are often bound with other things to make them 
more stable.  It's entirely possible, and likely, that different people have 
different quality of chemicals which carry more or less of the specific 
molecule you want.  It all depends on the Grade of chemical you buy and 
where the seller got theirs.  One seller may have agricultural grade 
chemicals, which are less pure, but are cheaper, while another may have 
hydroponic and/or laboratory grade chems which are more pure but cost more.  
That often explains the differences in color and grain size between one 
hobbyists chemicals and anothers.
