RE: Burnout
As long as people are dumping, I will add mine to the pile. I have also
been frustrated with the AGA. One item was the recent communications with
Mary. I thought that her whining was not warranted, but as I have done
before, I did what I thought was best for the organization. I am sorry if
others do not agree. Regarding the convention, I give Charlene high marks
for her energy and follow-thru, but I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED about the way we
(the SC) are proceding. Like Erik, I feel that I am hitting my head against
the wall with my suggestions. My approach is to take a longer view and to
develop a strategy for the next few years. I made that suggestion in a
recent short SC (or MC) email, offering to be one of a small group to
devise a multi-year convention speakers plan and quickly make
recommendations to the SC. I suggested that others may want to similarly
address the financial issues. I did not see a single reply.
Now I have more serious issues to deal with. My brother just passed away
from a brief battle with cancer, and as I have said in a recent email :
Life is too short to be wasting time on non-sense. I am not fully thru the
grieving process and I am overloaded with being the executor of his estate
and looking after his surviving teenagers. Like Erik, I look forward to the
end of my term as a member of this SC.
