Hi guys, Couple things. First, in response to Dorothy's query about color. My suggestion would be for Karen's first issue to be ALL color. When you do more than a couple pages in color, it's just cheaper to do it all color. This is why the ACA has, for instance, dropped black & white ads completely from its list. I don't yet know how we're going to run the interim issue. Maybe it's also all-color. Maybe just one sheet inside. Won't be sure of this until we have all the material layed-out. As I have said to Karen before, I would wait at least a year before upping the membership dues to $20. We have much to prove first. However, I also beleive that the advertising subsidy will ultimately pay the differential (or most of it) to print all color. Consider that it costs the ACA about $3-5k per issue to print all color. If the AGA put out a similar-sized bulletin (based on a nominal 10-sheet-including-cover stapled booklet), I would assume similar cost. If we had nominally 8-10 ads even at $250 per ad, there is half the cost already, and one cannot convince me that it cost less than $2500 per issue with that duotone cardstock cover. Tropica, ZooMed, AH, Seachem, TFH, and FAN should all be slam-dunks (including special expensive cover ads). Kent, Big Al's, AZ and Coralife shouldn't be hard either. You might even be able to get some of the folks adverting in BB (Raibow Lifeguard... changing names, Hagen?). - Erik On Tue, 8 Jan 2002, David VillaSunscape wrote: > Dorothy has hit upon the most important thing -- that when TAG comes out as > a color, professional QUARTERLY magazine we will increase our membership > considerably.
