Dear Jorge, I'm so glad you are enjoying the magazine, and membership in AGA. I'm sorry it has taken a while for me to get back to you, but when your e-mail arrived, I was actually out in L.A. visiting relatives! I'll try to answer what questions I can. As far as back issues of PAM are concerned, they can be ordered directly from Diana Walstad. Unfortunately, the only issue that is NOT available is #2. There were printing problems with that issue, and Dave Gomberg had only enough to send to his subscribers at that time. Because he knows that people are interested in it, he has it available on line. His web site is: www.wcf.com/pam >> "A New Cryptocoryne Species from the Bukit-Timah-Nature reserve in Singapore >> by Jan D. Bastmeijer; --where is this article available in its entirety? << This article was published in the 4-2001 issue of the German magazine, Aqua Planta. I wish I could help you with your access to the Crypts mailing list, but I am not directly involved in that group. Maybe if you sent an e-mail to crypts@aquaria.net describing the trouble you've been having they could help you sort it out. I don't know of any aquatic plant group in southern California, but perhaps if you posted that question on the APD, someone would know. If nothing else, you might find a few other people with similar interests who were willing to get together from time-to-time! I am forwarding a copy of this letter (and yours) to our board to share your generous donation offer with them. I suspect they can find a way to put your kind offer to work! Thanks so much. Sincerely, Karen Randall ----- Original Message ----- From: Patima Pelaez To: krandall@world.std.com Cc: krandall@world.std.com Sent: Wednesday, June 19, 2002 10:11 PM Subject: Latest Issue and You Dear Karen: Congratulations on your new appointment as editor of TAG. My name is George- spelled Jorge legally. I'm a very new member to AGA from Los Angeles, CA. I became interested in aquarium plants some 28 years ago, but due to alcohol and marital problems I have not invested any effort towards that endeavor since then. Everything is fine now, so I'm back! I wish such an organization had existed back then; maybe things would have been different. As far as plants go, my most favorite Family is the Cryptocoryne. My wife says I'm a fool to struggle with such adifficult plant family when there is the majectic Echindorus (the Amazon swords). But thats me, always looking for trouble. I can say one thing, maybe two; I made C. willisii or C. walkerii flower by mistake back in 1979. The second thing was that I corresponded with Prof. H.C.D. DeWitt of the Netherlands. I got his address from Santa Monica, CA, policeman who lived on my route back in the '70s. Oh yeah, I'm also a retired UPS driver! Anyway, that was then, now is now. I would To say that this is a great magazine issue and am looking forward to the next. I would like to write an article in the future, based on my personal knowledge and experience. In this latest issue on page 27, back issues of PAM are offered for sale. I would like to purchase Issue #2 if available. Also on page 36, "A New Cryptocoryne Species from the Bukit-Timah-Nature reserve in Singapore by Jan D. Bastmeijer; --where is this article available in its entirity? Another dilemma; touching base in a more simplified way to suscribe to Crypts Digest on the internet. It's not easy from my terminal. One last thing, since I don't even have a tank up and running again yet; mainly because raising pineapples take up alot time, and I am under the asumption that AGA is a non-profit organization; I would like to know if it is possible to make a donation (money) to help out. Please let me know. In closing, I would like to say again congrats and I am looking forward to meeting you in Houston this November. Until then...lots of hugs and algae.. Jorge L. Pelaez Member, Los Angeles, CA P.S. Could you let me know of any aqarium plants organization here in Southern California? --- StripMime Report -- processed MIME parts --- multipart/alternative text/plain (text body -- kept) text/html --- ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail majordomo@thekrib.com with "unsubscribe aga-sc" in the body of the message.
