Dear David -
this year we are driving, so our schedule is quite
flexible as to when we return. We had hoped to meet up with friends, and
do some skiing in the Pocano's if the snow is any good by then.
We should be back some time in the first week of January.
It would certainly be a good warm up for us to go skiing a little in
Pennsylvania before we head to Utah in February!
As for helping next year, I have already consented
to review/edit/add to Darlene's work up of the outline for future planners to
follow. She said it was due by the end of this month, but I was
hoping that the powers that be could grant her an extension to
maybe mid to late January. That way, Luis and I would be able to get
together to reconstruct our timeline, helping eachother to remember things
along the way, which would result in a much better end product, I
think.
Anything beyond that will have to be on a
we'll-see-as-we-go basis, depending on the nature of the assignment and how much
time I have. I certainly would like to be involved, if only in
a small way.
Merry Christmas and A Very Happy New Year to you
and yours,
Val

Hi Valerie --
Does not surprise me -- but then again I am sorry
if she is really sick. If you want to let it slide til after the 1st that's
fine with me, since they do not have any of our money at this point in time.
When are you coming back?
Are you still game to help out with the
convention for next year?
See ya.

Subject: Appointment at the
Hilton
Hi David !
11 am today, and I was just about to call the
Hilton to confirm my 2 pm appt with Cynthia, when she calls me. She is
very ill, and her doc is admitting her to the hospital this afternoon to run
tests, they suspect Crohn's disease. She sounded truely terrible, and
I sympathized with her. She said she would call me as soon as she got
out of the hospital - she didn't know if she would be released after the
tests, or whether they would be keeping her for a couple of days. She
expessed concern that I was upset or loosing patience with her. I said
not at all, I understood. I would be available to her any time before
I leave on the 17th for Christmas up north. She asked whether it would
be ok to deal with this after the new year if necessary, and I said it would
be alright with me, but that I had heard that AGA had disputed payment of
the credit card bill. Oh. . . ok, she said
listlessly. If I'm not out of the hosp in a few days , I will
turn this over to someone else to handle, but I fully expect to be able to
see you before you leave.
She again thanked me for my understanding, and
that's how we left it. I now wish that I had called her right back
that day she called just before Thanksgiving, but I was so
busy!
Oh well, on it goes.
