and now for some good news..

David and Cheryl know this, but the rest of you don't:  Since putting in
the paypal buttons 6 days ago, we have received payments of around $600
for memberships, back issues and a couple videos.  

Cheryl is planning to (or has finished) e-mailing all the folks whose
memberships are expiring, sending postcards to the 50 or so of the 200 who
don't have e-mail. She's also processing the inbound orders the day she
receives them.  Between this and a list of folks who paid the "non-member"
rate at the convention, membership has rebounded from the post-merge low
of 702 up to 737.  We've got a long way to go, but it's a good start.

Diana is also following receiving the new paypal orders.  She told me last 
week that she hasn't sold a back issue of PAM since the summer & the 
bookstore has essentially been dead since then.  Happily, a good chunk of 
that $600 is back issue sales, including PAMs.

I don't know which percentage of the steady flow of orders is due to
Cheryl's e-mail, which is due to the single posting about the PayPal
thingy on the APD 5 days ago, and which is just random site visitors, but
I'm stoked every time I get another e-mail notification from PayPal.  And 
I need something to be stoked about today.
