Some very positive news. I've told Larry that we'll have a final document for him as soon as it's reviewed, and also that we're negotiable on the %risk thing. (I've also told him that last year's convention almost broke even & that I'm SURE they would do better.) - Erik -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Tue, 11 Feb 2003 15:12:47 -0800 (PST) From: Larry Lampert <l_lampert@yahoo.com> To: Erik Olson <erik@thekrib.com> Subject: Re: some bid information Hi Erik, I hope things are well with you guys. I wanted to give you a quick update on where we are at. I have proposed a formal bid effort to host the AGA to our club and it was voted in favor of. I have a number of people who are willing to help out and even have formed a basic list of committees. We are ready to take the next step but are not exactly sure how this will happen. I have also looked into how the ACA is done the risk reward split. It is my understanding that it is usually a 50/50 proposition. Our club is willing to donate an immense amount of time and energy however we are only about 2 years old and only have a few hundred in the bank after expenses. We are not interested in hosting the AGA to raise revenues. We are interested in doing it for the AGA and even more importantly for the growth of the hobby. We certainly think that there should be some type of sharing of both risk and reward to incentivise a well run convention but we are only comfortable risking what we have not what we project we will have. I have a hotel in mind that is within 10 minutes of DFW Airport. I am ready to look at dates but I wanted to talk it over with you before we go any further. Please let me know your thoughts. Regards, Larry Lampert PS. I will be on the ACA chat tonight if you have time. ------------------ To unsubscribe from this list, e-mail majordomo@thekrib.com with "unsubscribe aga-sc" in the body of the message.
