If the 2003 revs include money from 2002 ad billings c(collected in 2003), then 2003 might not be that good an indicator -- at least, not without adjusting out the "prior year's" revs. 2002 was not really $0, but 2003 was not really as high -- it's will be a tough call without knowing the split. I'd rather see the revenues noted as Receivables in the year they come up and the Receivables carried forward, if necessary and noted as such in the subsequent budget. Same with expenses incurred in one year but not paid until the following year. There are other ways to handle these things for budgets, but this would at least let keep track of what was earned/owed when. We don't take on long term debt, or have shareholders or any complex assets, so our financial statements can be relatively smple but I think we need to see Statements of Income and Cash Flows, as well as a Balance Sheet. In addition, some specialized reports might be helpful, such as, for examples, Erik has produced from time to time on rate of memberships, turnover, seasonality of revenues, and earnings analyses of items sold. We might be making a lot of money this year on a particular book, but we mgiht have spent more than we're getting given prior expenditures to purchase the item, shipping, whatever. Erik raised the basic issues at the meeting; it's not enough to know that we're bleeding less. my 2 cents and change due, sh --- Cheryl Rogers <cheryl@wilstream.com> wrote: > I would be curious to see a more complete breakdown of > the $25k in TAG > expenses.
