Hi all --
Had a nice chat with one lawyer friend, and here is
what he says.
We can/should put all kinds of disclaimers on the
site if we "host" a forum or anything like that. There is standard wording for
these, and we could grab one from some other site -- it is the stuff you click
on to accept before you do lots of stuff on the web. He says that is what we can
do -- but the reality of the world is that regardless of what we say, anyone who
wants to sue us can sue us. Ain't America great? Yes! All the messiness we have
seen already cannot be avoided.
What he suggested was that we get 1) general
corporate insurance for the corporation and 2) Errors and Omissions policy for
all directors and officers.
If you would like I can chat with my insurance
agent about this, and get prices -- he is the one who writes the policies
that insure AGA against me absconding with the auctrion receipts, and has been
my agent and friend for many years.
Please let me know what you would like to
do.
