Hi there --
Spoke with my other lawyer friend, and he said
pretty much the same things. We can try and disclaim as much as we want, and
have folks who post agree that AGA is not liable for anything nasty they say,
but the reality of the world is still that if someone wants to sue, AGA
will get named in the lawsuit and we would have to defend
ourself(ves).
I've started things with the insurance company
sending me the policy declarations and a form for us to apply for the insurance.
As I understand it the policy would cover AGA and the officers and BOD for legal
defense, as well as any judgements against us.
Jeffrey (lawyer #2) mentioned an interesting thing.
He said that he thought that a typical homeowners policy would cover the person
for actions as an officer and/or board member of a non-profit organization. Some
of you mayhaps could check with your insurance company?
I'll keep everyone apprised of the
developments.
Take care,
David
