TAG quote

I have a new quote from a local printer. It seems that last time he 
miscounted the pages, so it is slightly higher, but still lower than 
Amprint.

1000 TAG inside
   paper text coated 80# gloss 8.5 x 11          $2269.50
   print 4 colors

1000 TAG cover
   paper text coated 100# gloss 8.5 x 11         $400
   print 4 colors

Karen, or whoever, it would be good to cross-check these specs with 
Amprint's to make sure we're getting the same quality.

They have provided me with samples. I have a Nov issue and a Dec issue 
of the same magazine. I will send one to Erik and one to Karen. He 
says to get a true idea of the print quality, you should look at the 
professional ads because they are higher quality, which makes sense.

I get the distinct impression that if we sign up with them, they will 
have exactly two clients with this sort of run. Which doesn't mean 
they won't do a good job, but there may be glitches.

I have requested a quote from a mailer in Lewisville (some of you may 
remember the booming metropolis of Lewisville, TX). They *say* they 
will do internationals and multis. IF the quote looks good, I am going 
to ask for references.

The printer has recommended an outfit in NJ that apparantly 
specializes in international mailing and is very reliable. I will get 
a quote from them, too, but sending the list to two places and dealing 
with two bills may be more hassle than it's worth.

I will not be totally off line for the next two weeks, but I will not 
be checking e-mail daily. Happy Whatever.
