Boy! Am I behind or what. Rick got a new deal from Marriot, which i ought to have in hand (well, on disk) soon and I'll send a summary and post the file tomorrow. Apparently, they have gotten the maximum liability (last month cancellation) down to $10,000. We had $6,000 or $8,000 in the Dallas deal and the Sheraton is down to $8,000. But here is food for thought. GWAPA had a meeting and they agreed that they liked the Marriot facilities better and though the deal was better overall. They, like Larry and I, have a nagging feeling that Sheraton just won't be in the box when it's time to bat. I was supposed to go over the last Sheraton offer in detail long before now and I haven't done that yet. Tommorow, I plan to do both of them. I know everyone thinks we're way ahead of the game on timing but it's important to keep up the momentum in the GWAPA membership. So the quicker we can all respond and get a suitable hotel deal closed, the better. Of course, at this point, you're waiting on me. Point of interest. GWAPA thinks they can cover $4,000 of the $10,000 cancellation liability so that's what they are proposing. To cover any more one of them would have to underwrite with personal funds. Certainly, we all expect to have an event and not cancel. I advised that someone might suggest that the percentage should change if the risk shifts but they don't want the percentage to change unless AGA does more of the work. So you folks can chew on that while I take get my act together down here. sh ===== S.
