If we do, I'll have to ask again for the address unless one
of you has it. For phone number, I can substitute mine --
if they call, which is only when there's a delivery
problem, at least I'll know about it.
Would it violate protocol to insist on Amano taking
something after he's already so "Thanks, no thanks"? In the
US, first refusal generally is not accepted as the final
word -- but Japan?
Truth is, based on the best info available, if Amano didn't
take/give away the books, then my guess is that we probably
did sell them.

Well, folks. Whattaya think? Since we have confirmed
that
Amano did not give the books out, I feel a bit guilty
not
sending him something. Otoh, that might be rude at this
point.

Dear Scott,
Thank you for your quick reply.
I am very glad to hear your comment.
$400
I spoke with Mr. Amano about your proposal to send
him a
check of USD400.
He told me he does not want to take money if the
sales of
the books is not
confirmed.
So please forget about it!
Mr. Amano is not minding it at all.
He is quite satisfied with the fact many people
bought
his expensive books!
Sincerely,
Nozomi Hayakawa

Dear Nozomi,
Thanks for writing back to me. Everyone had great
fun
at
the convention and we were able to learn a lot.
Seeing
and
hearing Mr. Amano was the highlight and we were
honored
to
meet and spend some time with him.
I am very happy to hear about the news in Aqua
Journal.
As
always, we look forward to seeing any news from Mr.
Amano.
Sorry for the confusion about the money -- things
were
rather hectic at the close of the convention. Thank
you
for
helping me correct my error. I will issue a check
immediately for $400 to Mr. Amano. Can you please
give
me a
mailing address and telephone number? I will need
this
info
to ensure that the check arrives as quickly as
possible.
And on behalf of all of the members of the AGA and
especially the members of the AGA Board, please
extend
our
thanks to Mr. Amano for his visit and for all the
generous
and important support he has given to the AGA over
the
years.
I am glad we got to talk again,

Dear Scott,
First we would like to thank your kind hospitality
during
our visit to
Washington D.C.
We enjoyed meeting many planted aquarium
hobbyists.
We introduce the event on AQUA JOURNAL. I will
send
complimentary copies to
Erik, or Karen, and ask to deliver the copies to
board
of
directors members
of AGA, and GWAPA.
The Rio Negro Book
I confirmed with Mr. Amano that he did not take
money
directly, nor
presented someone else.
He only presented to Tomoko.
Best regards,
