First of all, the IRS contact called me and confirmed that
she received the additional statement, which Cheryl kindly
faxed to her. So hopefully we will have some kind of
resolution in the not too distant future.
Next, some financial info. The following is just a little
FYI -- it's no substitute for a financial report. Mainly
what is missing is an analysis of the Paypal revenue *by*
category -- all the paypal revs show up below as "Paypal".
The bank account is shown below, including totals for all
transaction categories from the first deposit of cash (my
payment for Tshirts) and funds transferred from the MA
account to today's deposit of the last of the AGA2K4 money
from Ivo.
RE Income, note that much of the income is from Paypal,
which I still need to analyze separately for its component
transactions. Also, most checks come to me without any
listing of what they are payments for. These show up under
Uncategorized Deposits -- the ones I can figure out show up
under one or more of the other categories shown below. When
we convert to our own shopping cart and credcard system, we
probably will be able to track a single consistent system
of transaction categories.
Expenses are generally more consistently organized since I
have more control over how those are first entered into the
system.
What I would really like to see is this, hiring an
accountant on a one-time basis to set us up on Quickbooks
-- Quickbooks is a step up accountingwise from the
checkbook software I'm now using. This should be an
accountant that has experience setting up books for small
non-profs. Once the accounts are set up and organized
according to proper accounting principles, we could take
care of the books ourselves -- i.e., I could do the data
entry and make the categorization judgement calls based on
how the books are set up, and given how the books are set
up, generate all the reprots necessary for the Feds and our
own curiosities.
