We don't have to let the 50% part gum up the volitional works. How about
we split out the thornier issue:
I move that we do what Cheryl moved except for the selling at 50% part.
I separately move that well PAMs at 50% as described in Cheryls original
motion.
Subject to seconding, I vote yes on each motion above, since, based on my
pastage calcs, it's not a deficit deal even selling PAMs at half price.
I also vote yes on Cheryl's motion. That should cover the bases, now all
we need is more players to stand on them ;-)

I guess we shouldn't say it didn't pass yet, unless you're expiring it.
I
suspect everyone has been distracted with the convention stuff. I
certainly have. This underlines the need for us to have a secretary or
"stick poker" person who keeps track of these things (it's supposed to be
me, but as I've mentioned on the phone, I just don't have time to do
this).
I normally reserve my vote as a tie-breaker, but I will vote yes to help
get this stuff out. I've already voiced my concern with selling
individual PAMs at 50% off, so I don't have anything new to add there.

This motion has been on the table since February 8. It did not pass. I
will
e-mail Greg and say that his suggestion did not get enough support from
the

PAM Excavation
Official Motion to reduce inventory of PAMs
1. Send Mike Hellweg 100 PAMs (with flyers) to give away at his talks.
Mike should make sure that everyone gets on instead of just folks who
want
one. Teehee.
2. Send 500 PAMs with flyers to Greg Watson for inclusion in his
orders.
Each will have a sticker on the back that says:
â This FREE magazine courtesy of
The Aquatic Gardeners Association
www.aquatic-gardeners.org
magazine â forum â convention â aquascaping contest â bookstoreâ
3. Ask Jen Ford to search the web for promotional opportunities.
Meetings,
conventions, exhibits, speakers. She reports to us and we send PAMs as
well as other promotional materials as appropriate.
4(a). Sale on PAMs 50% off until April 30, 2006.Re-evaluate at that
time
to determine whether to extend the sale as is or change to
(b). PAM Combo Sale: Buy 1, Get 1 Free.
I figured out the cost of shipping the old-fashioned way: I took PAMs
to
the post office and weighed them with an envelope.
1 PAM $1.11
2 PAMs $1.83
3 PAMs $2.55
4 PAMs $3.27
5 PAMs $4.05 (priority)
When calculating profit on a per each basis and comparing (a) with
(b),
the difference is, in my opinion, negligible. Something on the order
of
$0.24. Certainly shipping more than one PAM per envelope is more
cost-effective, but selling a single PAM at 50% off still nets us
$1.79 in
profit.
