I think we may be taking this wrong. I think Jim is saying that we *don't* have to have a big-name speaker. As Karen mentioned, we will CREATE one simply by virtue of having him or her speak. Insert Shakespeare quote here: "Nice customs curtsy to great kings. We are the makers of manners, Kate." :-) I believe that Jim is trying to accommodate what he sees as OUR wishes by suggesting Christel.
Personally, I don't think it would be good to repeat Christel or Claus in 2006. My feeling is that, because we didn't have a convention in 2005, folks WILL sign up for 2006 even if we don't have a single big-draw speaker, as long as we have a solid line-up.
Maybe we should view this from the standpoint of topics. We can browse the categories in our forum to get ideas of topics. What are we missing and who can best speak to that?
We could also create another poll on the forum with several topic options. Best way to find out what the members want is to ask them.

Jim is asking about Christel again. Seems to me she just spoke at NEC last year; we'd be better off getting one of Karen's suggestions. Any thoughts from you guys?
