Hi folks. Kathy talked with Ray this evening and got the skinny... He really wants to come out and do this. Part of it is that he really wants to help out; part of it is that he wants to visit San Francisco and one of his sponsors (which is cool). He has apparently put aside other commitments in order to make the date. Costs: Hotel for three nights, plus food. He would pay transportation. Sounds like around $500 to me. Features: 45 gallon bowfront aquarium delivered to winner's home store, as opposed to having to be local. I suspect this will up the auction price on such a thing, and will pay for 1/3 of that fee right away. Could we sell another $300 worth of the dry goods he brings? Probably. At MINIMUM, it'll give us three more roomnights, more vendor room presence, and some more interest in the auction. I don't think we would be out more than a couple hundred bucks. In addition, it's some new information for the mid-September e-mail/forum blast (in addition to hotel xtn and split rate info). The name will certainly draw a few more local fish folks to the auction. I said OK, and Kathy called him back. I hope this is OK with you guys as well. If not, I beg forgiveness, and you can all flog me personally at the convention and thereafter until December 1st. Oh, and Scott, you'll get your stats on this one. I'll print out a special set of colored tags for Ray's items that will have a particular numerical range, so we will know EXACTLY how much they brought in. - Erik PS: Kathy also talked to Jeff Senske -- he's going to be bringing some ADA stuff for donation. They're also entering the aquascaping contest this year (which is good, because there's a PATHETIC turnout in the biotope and paludarium categories. Gotta keep up that reputation that "the Senske's always win", instead of "those guys from Hong Kong always win"). -- Erik Olson erik at thekrib dot com ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Thu, 14 Sep 2006 20:25:16 -0400 From: kingfish <kingfish51@verizon.net> To: Kathy Olson <kathy@thekrib.com> Subject: Greetings Hi Kathy & Erik Kingfish Services is here to help, the AGA shall be responsible for my Hotel & Meals for the weekend, I shall ship all my products to San Francisco Bay Brand then I can get the deliever to the hotel when time comes, as for the Aquarium Set Up I shall get a letter from All-Glass stating the bearer of this letter is to recieve a 46 Gallon Bow Front Aquarium Set Up Tank Hood & Light, the rest of the products that go into the tank I shall bring to the Convention, I shall fly into SF area on thursday and try and fly out on Sunday if possible but if not I shall eat the extra night hotel cost, What else can I do to help.
