I think they did the big check joke at Kiwanis Club lat year ;-) . But seriously: Pros of having clubs issue prizes directly: I don't have to take custody of the money I don't have to write any checks, look up addresses, mail prizes. Cons of having clubs issue prizes directly: Someone has to follow up to ensure the prizes were delivered -- delivery is a lot less assured than you might think, for a while lot of reasons. And most winners won't be at convention so I'll have to mail most prizes anyway. I like having to do less, but I prefer having some control over whether we live up to our responsibilities. So If an my sponsor wants to make a big to do the Convention, more power to them -- fake giant check, slot machine spilling fake dollars, whatever. A brid coming down with a sign showing the secret word. . . whatever. Hwowever, generally, I'd rather I handled the actual prizes -- I'd like to have the checks before hand so I know that they will be delivered timely -- I'd rather have to bird dog me than someone else -- besides I only have to keep after one person and all the stuff goes out at the same time. Also note that I hadn't planned on writing prize checks *at* the convention. Now I remember. DFWAPC wants to present the prize to their winner at the convention. Actually, they were joking about making a really big check, like for the Publishers Clearinghouse Sweepstakes. THAT would be funny. So can they present their prize at the convention? Or maybe we can come up with an alternative or all the clubs. Man, with such support coming our way, we REALLY need to give a little back in terms of making nice-nice and publicity. _______________________________________________ AGA-sc mailing list AGA-sc@thekrib.com http://lists.thekrib.com/mailman/listinfo/aga-sc
