Larry and I talked yesterday while he was en route to the hotel. He would like to get started on next year's convention. His goal is actually to have something to announce in San Fancisco. He has some ideas for cities (Atlanta, for instance), and is thinking maybe ask Amano. One theory is we could pick a location, announce it, and, now painted into a corner, make it work. (As opposed to the alternative of mulling endlessly over too many possibilities and announcing quite late in the game.) I think that before any of this happens, though, the board should actually decide whether we ARE going to have a convention in 2007. I think that it might be enough to say "we are having a convention, and we're thinking of city X") in November. That would be more than we've ever done in the past.
